Today

First day of school today.

Same old shite. Class schedules, disgruntled students with half their consciousness still trapped in the vortex of Vacation, new teachers, first years obviously lost inside the campus grounds.

But my class from last year is still mostly intact, which is good. We lost 3 people, and gained 4. I also met an exchange student from Italy. I shall be keeping an eye on her.

Oh, and I'm very relieved that I won't be teaching Japanese this year. That's one responsibility off my back. Yay!

Ever since I started that Church of Aragorn, things started to look up. Maybe I'm onto something here.

Although, I checked Demonbaby today, and it's on hiatus. I screamed, "NOOOOOOOOO!!!"

Sadness.

Who else will do the (articulate) ranting for me, Rob? WHO??

And I've still got anger issues. That has to be sorted out. Preferably in the near future.

Oh and I borrowed The Hobbit today, from the school library. I said I'd read it today, but I mostly relaxed and dealt with paperwork when I got home... so. Ah well.

Oh, and the supposed 'heirs' of The Knight Templars are suing the catholic church for $150 billion. For 'assets seized by the catholic church seven centuries ago.'

I must say - I support their cause. But they're doing it wrong. They look like nutters, using that approach. They should've sued for pain and suffering instead. Although, would that work? I don't know.

Good luck to them.

To err is human; to forgive highly unlikely.

PS: I forgot to mention that Stupid Classmate is still in my class! So we might be blessed with more of her Words of Zen soon.

A Matter of Repetition

April 8, 2008
Mood: "blahhhhhhhhhhh"

This happened today:

Teacher: Okay, you are henceforth divided into 6 groups. Group 1 consists of... *starts rattling off names*
(She finishes reciting group member names)
Teacher: Any questions?

(A lot of people ask about their groups)
Teacher: *jokingly* Do you honestly have such sucky short term memories? Wow! *repeats list anyways* Now any questions?
The One: Yes. Which group am I in?

Me: *headpalm* -__-

This happened yesterday:

So congratulate me, dear people. I accomplished what no one has previously accomplished - I .fucking. broke. StumbleUpon!

[EDIT: Damn, it figures that someone else in the internet would accomplish something of the sort. Only in a more epic sort of way.]

Return of The Sun and The One

March 31, 2008
Mood: ('_')

Daylight savings time is now over/ has begun, not sure really. But the point is that the hours have changed again.

So I had to wake up an hour early for school today.

It was awful...

I think I started hallucinating. I kept seeing extra letters in words, kept seeing things that weren't really there... at one point I thought I saw an apple, then couldn't figure out where it came from.

And as a result of the DST ending/starting... well, maybe I shouldn't blame DST for this. I should blame the summer.

Point is, I took a nap around 6 pm because I was so tired. After drifting in and out of sleep (most of my short time awake was spent in a near-delirious state anyways), I properly woke up at 8 pm.

And the sun was still out.

I was like "....." and kept looking at the clock to make sure it was indeed 8 pm, and NOT 3 pm. Because I swear that's what the light was like.

I need to get thicker curtains. Ones that REALLY block out the light. Right now it's a bohemish type thing.

But I have to go, for there is a test tomorrow that I still need to read for. Before I leave though, I give you this conversation between The One in my class and our (awesome) Social Studies teacher.

A little background story;

Our teacher was discussing a theory. The theory says that those countries who have been involved in war may have destroyed their genetic legacy because the strongest and smartest people were sent to war, and very few, if any at all, of those men returned. Hence, those left may have been the ones with the inferior genes.
(NOTE: this is JUST a theory. I'm not claiming this is right, neither was our teacher. He just thought it was interesting enough to share.)

(After the teacher has gone through a very long explanation involving the Theory of Evolution and the "Survival of the fittest" rule... TWICE)

The One: But what does that have to do with genes?
Everyone: (-__-)

(The teacher explained the whole thing again.)

The One: OMG, like only nerds think of that!
Everyone: (T_T)
Teacher: *smiling* Well what is a nerd? What is the definition for a nerd? Isn't a nerd someone who is very intelligent and yet lacks some basic social skills? So is talking about genes socially unacceptable?
The One: ...
Guy#1: Owned.

Stupid Strikes Again

March 4, 2008
Mood: wired

She did it again!

Not Britney, my stupid classmate. And as you can see, in honor of her bumbling comments I've created a new tag, so her priceless words of wisdom can be easily accessed.

Quote of the day;

"Doesn't Gandhi have any other clothes? Why is he wearing curtains?"

And again, I note that she was being COMPLETELY SERIOUS here. No sarcasm, no joke.

Now I have to go. I'm in math class.

28 February 2008

Stupid Whale

February 28, 2008
Mood: -one way or the other-

In every class, there is one...

One that makes you wonder what on earth they are doing at school.

One who seems to have left their brain at home.

One who is just plain stupid.

Behold the conversation today between this "One" and my Social Studies teacher.

One: Oh! Isn't it a leap year this year?
SST: Yes.
One: So there are 31 days, right?
SST: Uhm.. no?
One: But doesn't February have 31 days?

Since when, in this planet bound to the Gregorian calendar did February have 31 freakin days?!

And please note - she was completely serious. She used the same tone one would use when stating something obvious... like, "I wear shoes."

Of course, everyone got the expected "WTF?!" looks on their faces. Although a couple of people, and please excuse my language, had a sort of "SLAP THAT HO!!" look.

Should I drop-kick her out the window?

Nah. The concrete might be destroyed. It would be like drop-kicking a whale from the third floor.

Of Chemicals and Stupidity

January 31, 2008
Mood: completely and utterly miserable

I think I finally figured out why I've been feeling so down this past week...

True, stress from various stuff could have added to the equation. But I doubt that those small irritations were enough to cause me to walk around like a zombie, wanting nothing more but to just dig my own resting spot.

No.

It's dopamine, norepinephrine and low levels of serotonin. Dopamine is the chemical usually associated with states of euphoria, cravings and addiction. High levels of dopamine are also associated with norepinephrine, which heightens attention, short-term memory, hyperactivity, sleeplessness and goal-oriented behavior. Low levels of serotonin are often found in people with obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Hmm... this past week I have been cooking strange new recipes, cause I often found myself sitting somewhere with a strange taste in my mouth. Thankfully, all of my hare-brained recipes succeeded, so yeah. I also had trouble remembering stuff. I often forgot what I did just a few minutes prior. I've been fidgety, twitchy and just generally restless. And no matter how tired I am, I find that I have to force myself to finally sleep.

Obsessive... Can we talk about when I was NOT obsessive? I'm a stalk-- RESEARCHER. Yes, I'm a researcher. Of course it's part of my job to be obsessive.

So what am I babbling about, my dear friends? What do these three chemicals do, in layman's terms?

I think I'm falling in love.

Or perhaps I've already fallen.

I don't want to. I can't. But of course that nasty diapered dude has to show around and shoot me with his arrows. What can I do? He enjoys shooting me. I'm an easy prey.

I find that I fall in love quite easily. However, getting me to fall OUT of love is a mighty Herculean task. Maybe it's got something to do with how my kind always wear our hearts on our sleeves.

And wow. February is just around the corner.

Valentine's Day is going to be hell. But then again, it always has been hell for me.

*sigh*

Yeah, yeah. You're probably thinking, what is her problem? Why won't she just admit it to the guy? Nothing ventured, nothing gained etc and all that jazz.

I would. I siriusly would if I could. But I can't. Doing so would be akin to jumping out a 10-storey building. I will get nothing from it, except being squished to the pavement.

Oh, heartbreak my friend. You haven't visited me in so long. You're one guest that I want to welcome and yet want to murder inside my house.

Well, at least heartbreak brings my muse with it. Nepenthe, welcome.

------------

I found that that top part is WAY too emo.

So here's an amusing story.

This happened yesterday in Bio/Chem class. My teacher was giving this girl in my class a new password for her school account.

Teacher: Okay. Your new password is "secret". Just change it when you're in.
Girl: What?!
Teacher: Your new password is "secret". The word, "secret".
Girl: How am I supposed to remember that?!
Teacher: Remember what? Your new password is "secret". What's there to remember?
Girl: But how am I supposed to remember that?!
Teacher: It's "secret"! S-E-C-R-E-T! The word "secret!"
Girl: Oh, I'll never remember that!
Random guy: Dear GOD! Is it possible to be so stupid?!?!
Random guy 2: Yes. Yes it is.
Me: *busy hitting head on laptop*

Please note: That girl was COMPLETELY serious.
