The whole segment is pure genius. But here's one exchange I particularly like:

Brain-dead Woman: Everything's being taken away. This is happening literally overnight. This has been going on for a long time, but I've never seen it...
John Oliver: I mean, you said "literally overnight" and then "this has been going on for a long time". You have to pick one of those.
Brain-dead Woman: No, it can happen both ways...
John Oliver: No, it can't. I mean, that's not what the word "literally" implies...
[...]
John Oliver: Which is it? Is it "literally overnight" or has it been "going on for a long time"?
Brain-dead Woman: Both. Both.
John Oliver: No. I'm saying that that is grammatically impossible.

xD

A lot of dead people, because of... us. I mean, it would be nice for that to be acknowledged today.

He Got This

No matter how many times I look at this picture, it just never gets old...

Obama Pictures and McCain Pictures

He did get it. Oh yes he did.

This is the meaning of our liberty and our creed — why men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across this magnificent Mall, and why a man whose father less than sixty years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath.

Inauguration 2009

Yeah, I just have to blog about this. It's kind of a requirement.

I'll spare your eyes though, don't worry.

Blahblah inauguration blahblah amazing moment blahblahblah history in the making blahblah Yes We Can! blahblah dreams came true blahblah scary anticipation blahblah blah so glad they used his middle name blahblah beacon of hope blahblah the eloquent one must be nervous, he messed up the oath, cute though blahblah amazing speech! blahblah burned Bush real bad blahblah Stars and Stripes Forever, nearly drove me mad blahblah the beginning of a new era.

And look; a guy playing Iron Maiden on a harp.

For the world has changed, and we must change with it.
- *PRESIDENT* Barack Obama, Inaugural speech 2009

Yes We Can!

And a collective shiver ran up the whole world's spine...

A shiver of glee; of glorious anticipation.

A shiver brought on by the knowledge that something historic has taken place.

A shiver brought on by the collective shattering of several invisible walls.

The people of the United States have spoken, and oh, they have done it well.

But I wouldn't know, because I chose to sleep, instead of staying up to keep vigil over the election results.

It was a wonderful thing that greeted my sleepy eyes this morning though.

"Barack Obama: President-Elect"

[...] It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generation's apathy who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep.
[...]
This is our time, to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth, that, out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope. And where we are met with cynicism and doubts and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes, we can.

A Short Outburst of Anger

My spirit is calm for two hours every week. The first hour on Mondays, the other hour on Wednesdays.

Then I go home, watch the news, and all that spiritual calm goes right out the window.

I hate Sarah Palin. In this case, the pig should be tossed into a salad and fed to other pigs!!
And McCain should overdose on his wife's stolen pills.

You can persuade with a smile. But you can persuade STRONGLY with a smile AND a gun.
