All Out Now

God I feel so elitist!

There's a bunch of people here talking about Twilight and it annoys the hell out of me.

See, the thing is, I was among the early Twilight readers. I finished the whole series before these feckers even knew it existed. *I* am the reason that our school library has the damn books. *I* requested them.

And now I hate it, while everyone loves it.

I sit here damning the casting director to hell, while everyone squees at how 'omgsoperfect' the choice for Edward is.

It's quite sad, really. I liked the series. I really did. LOVED it even. I absolutely adored Edward - pined for him, even...

And then the movie came along, and it was as though my eyes were forced open.

It's a stupid, STUPID story. Seriously.

The premise itself is idiotic: why would a 900+ year old vampire want to go to high school? Has he nothing better to do? Surely he's surpassed high school education! Why isn't he out somewhere working - or at least doing something more productive?

And what happened in the first book? Wasn't the first half of that dedicated to describing how Bella falls down at any microscopic piece of dust that lies in her path? There was absolutely NO plot at that point - it was just Bella and Edward declaring their undying love for each other after she fell down and he said he wanted to drink her blood. What kind of mental illness does that child have? Stockholm syndrome? What - WHAT?? I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years, Twilight becomes linked to a rising number of abusive relationships. (Nevermind if your partner wants to kill you - the important thing is that you LUV each other. And make vampire babies.)

And DON'T get me started on Breaking Dawn. That book is an abomination for anyone who has any basic knowledge of biology.

I now see Twilight as Stephenie Meyer's thinly veiled attempt to recreate her High School existence.

Peace.

Of Disjointed Musings

So the animal corpse we desecrated? I thought it was chicken.

It was actually sheep.

I left the classroom feeling a bit queasy. Ugh.
Fun though.

And the math test. Deceptively easy, at first glance. I thought, "Wow, I know this!" Then I went on and actually tried to solve the problems, and realized that it would actually take more than just knowing them to solve them.

Did that make sense? I don't really care.

Yesterday I read 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' by Khaleid Hosseini. Fucking A.
Brutally, horrifyingly realistic. I honestly don't know if I like it.
It's like a drink that's been mixed too strongly... I'm sure it's good, but it's too strong for me to actually decipher the taste.

My cat is clawing at my desk. Hmm...

I have a water bottle!
For a very special reason, I can't seem to bring myself to drink the last few milliliters of water in there. xD
Perhaps I should do it now. Refill it tomorrow.
If I die, then this is why.

We watched 'Tristan+Isolde' today.
I thought I would cry, but I did not. For a number of reasons.
One of which was the love-making scenes punctuating every meeting. Really now.

And a snippet of the conversation that took place between my friend and I:

Her: The Irish! They're evil!
Me: No, they're just drunk.

*sigh* the hair... perfect. *sigh*

I have a Spanish test tomorrow. I have yet to pick up the book.
Blah. Whatever. Que sera, sera.
Although there's a very huge possibility that our teacher won't be there, and we shall be free to do whatever we want to do.

This bottle looks really inviting. Should I drink now?
To drink, or not to drink: That is the question.

Hmm....

I'll drink. And I'll type my reaction here.
Already, me heart is racing.

jkhfkjawefhkjhewflkhaw (Reaction prior to drinking)
!!!! (My cat tried to reach for the bottle. I slapped her paw.)
*deep breaths*
fadhfljkawehakh (I still can't do it)
*more deep breaths*
I DID IT
I DRANK THE WATER
I DID IT!!!!
dljkafs..............................

Blah

I was going to sleep. I really was.

But then these ponderings. Not really worthy of posting, but too good for the trash chute of my mind.

I have a math test on Wednesday, and I'm at ease. I'm too at ease it's making me uneasy.
Why am I not nervous? Not even one bit?
The test material is hard. I should be nervous.

We're going to desecrate an animal corpse tomorrow. Dissection in Biology. W00t!!

I finished taking notes/highlighting the important parts of the last few chapters of The Kite Runner. Run-in sentence, I don't care. I'm like driving on automatic right now.

I'm very disappointed with Amir. Of his decision to give in to his fears and pray on some old make-shift rug.
Not that it helped any.
It's just... it disappoints me, and makes me sad at the same time. Sad because that same situation is unfolding right now, on several different parts of the world. People let themselves be goaded by fear, and bend over.

Think for yourselves. Be strong. Find your own light.

Bahh...

English Draft

…our head spins and we think, ”Would [I] have done the same?”

We learn from such stories because unlike the character on paper, we [are sometimes privileged to] know more, and can clearly see the repercussions that every decision could make.

After reading dozens of books and stories, sometimes situations come along that are exactly like those depicted. We think back, what did the character do? And what happened to them?

Reading adds years of experience in the span of an hour. We learn a bit about how life works. Of course there are no wizards or trolls or talking polar bears in real life. But the real message is there; if we know where to look. It’s in between the lines.

More often than not, books are written to tackle certain issues. For instance, Mark Twain’s “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” was written (to handle the issue of slavery.)

Sometimes the author is gracious enough to spell out things for us, thereby sparing us the tedious task of dissecting the words to find the nuggets of wisdom carefully engraved in them.

(I don’t mean to end this piece with a cliché, but it just seems so fitting to say,

Reading gives knowledge, and with knowledge comes power.)

Harry Potter and Lyra Belacqua

I’m sure this has happened to you a couple of times when you were a child:

You’re sitting in your room, huddled in your bed, reading the new issue of your favourite fantasy book. And then an adult walks in and snatches the book right out of your hands. “Why are you reading this rubbish? You won’t learn anything from this. Here; read this instead.” You stare in horror as the adult then pulls out a science (or a math) textbook, which they then place into your trembling hands.

I beg to differ. I think children should be allowed to read whatever reading material they want. It trains their imagination

(You are now a blog post)

THE STORY BEHIND THIS:

I'm cleaning up the old files on my school laptop... erasing the useless stuff and archiving the useful ones, shit like that.

Then I came across that. And I knew I just had to post it. I mean, it was practically a message to my future self (aka: the Me now).

---

Today I went to a Karate class.

It was awesome.

The teacher was Malaysian. I like him already.

Definitely coming back.

Now I must leave. I switched this computer on just so I could watch The Daily Show.

I'm tired. I spent nearly two hours today running around a football field chasing a ball.

[EDIT: And in my tiredness I completely forgot to post a quote. If I'm so tired why'd I come back then? Well I'm a creature of tradition and shite like that. Don't even get me started on what happens when one disturbs my daily walk of meditation.

I'll just pull off a quote from the top of my head.]

Do you have any idea how fat you actually are - do you?? No you don't! Because your face is an island trapped in a sea of flab!!
-Dylan Moran

My mind scares me.

I'm still bored

I'm still bored. I've got loads of things I must do, but I'm still bored. It's the worst kind of bored. Loads of stuff to finish, but I don't feel like finishing them.

I realized last night that I still had a fair amount of unhealthy anger left in me. If this anger were money, Bill Gates would weep in envy. But no, that's probably too much. Oprah then. Oprah would be envious.

Point is, I've got anger issues. At times, the rage bubbles to the surface in a flash. It nearly topples me over. And then it disappears. Well, it doesn't really disappear... it just goes away, somewhere else.

Perhaps I should put the anger to better use.

School. School.

I do NOT want to go. At least not yet. Where did my vacation go? It's a bit amusing/funny/ironic. I couldn't wait for my summer vacation to start, and when it started, I found myself sitting bored - wondering when it would end. Now I'm desperately clutching on. Hoping that somehow the hours shall be slow in their passing.

I'm tempted to insert a Gandalf quote in here. But I won't. Instead I shall go back to highlighting the important passages.

All of the things that relate to Aragorn are highlighted in green. It's helpful reference for the church.
Others are in purple.
The Sam/Frodo things are highlighted in orange. I couldn't resist.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given to us.
- Gandalf

So I lied. Sue me.

We're Building A Bridge...

...but we don't have any river.

Dylan Moran, ladies and gentlemen. I love that guy.

Anyway, I've been going through my logs, and I saw that I've casually mentioned The Church of Aragorn a few times. But I've never really gone in depth or anything. Not even a link! Shame.

So here it is.

The Church of Aragorn. Dare I say, The *First* Church of Aragorn?

A Rough Outline of Things

So I noticed that I've been filled with a lot of anger recently. It does sometimes switch back and forth from anger to a more depressed state. But anyway, due to a little prompting from my mother, I thought I'd make this list. Mostly because the amount of anger coursing through my system right now is unhealthy. Scarily unhealthy.

To Forsake

I hereby announce that I am officially forsaking a part of my childhood.

This part of my childhood is none other than Harry Potter.
I forsake it because I just finished reading The Lord of The Rings. Truly, an epic masterpiece.

I care for Potter no longer. I do not compare it to The Lord of The Rings, as many others before me have done. No. I merely discovered that after reading the glorious, fantastic, magnificent tome that is LoTR, I find no more space in my heart for the boy wizard. Am I saddened? No, not really.

Also, the producers of the LoTR movies obviously puts in more care and devotion.

May it be mentioned here that I am proud that I finished reading all the books in 3 days. One for each.

Also, for the record. I no longer fancy Legolas. I pledge allegiance to Aragorn son of Arathorn, Elendil's heir of Gondor. Elessar.

That is all.
