ThisHasToBeReallyQuickBecauseOMGI'veGotThingsToDo

...and I have to procrastinate!

Hello, hello. Nearly a month has gone since my last update. Things have been pretty hectic. Tests here and there, reports to write, projects to finish, presentations and all that jazz. In addition, this so-called thing called 'life' appeared and dragged me off to various places.

What has happened since my last post, hmm...

There was a Mensa conference, which was fun. The one thing I loved the most was that I could be as incredibly awkward as I wanted to and no one batted an eye. I love my people. It was a fecking IQ-test though, to find the place. I failed that test, seeing as I have the navigational capabilities of a blind tortoise lying on its back. But this story craves another post altogether, and frankly, I don't have the time.

The weekend after that I went to this anime conference. Twas fun! Once again, I love my people. I loved the looks on the ordinary people's faces as they walked past the queue. If facial expressions could speak, theirs would've likely said "WTF is happening??!" I can't blame them. It's not everyday you see Batman, various anime characters, vampires, zombies, ninjas and Darth Vader standing in line outside a building.

Booty shall be listed some other time.

And oh, yeah. This happened:

Omg I found my father!!!

So basically, I've got a bunch of books I want to read, a bunch of TV shows I want to catch up on, a bunch of anime series I want to watch and etc. But I can't...

...because of T.E.E.S.

But all is not lost, for I have found a new ally! Her name is Coffee, and she is my friend.

Gotta go now, I have a test tomorrow and 21 pages left to read.

COFFEE!!!

PS: We watched Persuasion (2007) in English class, and it's safe to say I've fallen in love with another one of Ms Austen's men. I also loved a line from the blurb at the back of the book... So melodic, so beautiful. It shall be my parting quote for now.

A love story tinged with the heartache of missed opportunities.

The Demons Strike Again

Okay.

So I was going to do this long, rambling post detailing the events of my summer vacation. But truthfully, right at this moment,

I. Just. Cannot. Be. Arsed.

Blame the demons Procra and Stinashun if you will, but really. Blame all the tiny demons that have been plaguing me since last month.

I know I said: 'I stopped fighting my inner demons, we're on the same side now.' But the fecking bastards defected to the side that I abandoned. So technically, we're at war again. And I don't think this one will end soon.

Here's another reason to have a devil on hand.
It does make all the little demons more... bearable.

It's Thursday

The week is nearly over. But my Bleach marathon remains at a standstill. In a previous post, I explained how TEES was responsible for the setback. It still is, though this time it was joined by its sometimes-friend-often-enemy, Life.

As I also mentioned last time, I was ambushed by 3 countries under TEES. I did come out of the scuffle victorious, having beaten Gymland to a pulp, outspanishing El País de la Clase de Español, and pounding the microorganisms out of Biocountry.

But oh, the old Empire was not done with me, no.

Since last week there were talks of TEES sending out its Special Forces Unit; EXAM (Evil Xtrabastardly Academic Motherf*ckers). So I dropped everything in my schedule and prepared for the assault. Today was the day they were to strike, apparently. Thankfully, my fears proved unjustified, as the only thing EXAM had for me in their arsenal was a tiny, inconsequential cherry bomb called International English.

And Life! Damn it, Life. Nearly all the time, Life's ideals clash with TEES', but this one time they managed to set their differences aside and banded together to sabotage me. It very nearly worked, Life, but it didn't. Close... but no cigar.

It's a strange world I live in, dear reader(s). As if TEES and Life - two major organizations - weren't enough, I was also visited by the demons Procra and Stinashun. They tied me up and forced me to do NOTHING for hours on end. So really, what can I do?

Bah, who cares, really? I won't have my exams until June, so I'm good.

Before I go, I'd just like to note;

Once again, this sign... *sigh*

Why do you haunt me?

Life isn't weird: it's just the people in it.

A Shiteload of Stuff

I see the shitload of stuff that I have to do. They're inching towards me now... taunting me...

But eh, feck it.

I'm loaded with paracetamol and I just want to sleeeeeeep.

Unspecified Dramas, A Multitude of Pens, and Two Books

So yes. Much drama has happened.

I was going to post about the whole ordeal, but once again, rationality kicked in and I've decided that no, that wouldn't be such a good idea.

Damn rationality.
I'm feeling quite normal today. I'm glad.

Yesterday I bought a new pencil case. Twas only then that I realized just how many pens I owned...

Behold:

So yeah! Fun!

I know I should be writing my lab report about that dissection we had... but feck it. I can do that later.

A: My new pencil case!! Yay!
B: A fancy sign pen. Tis separated from its brothers because I had to "fix" the ink...
C: Correction fluid. A must-have for every student.
D: My old skull&bones pen case. I had to replace it because it now has a hole on its side D:
E: PEEENS!! And pencils. (Btw, that grey thing at the very end, right next to the old pen case, tis a compass)
F: Letter opener. Also handy for cutting loose threads on clothes. xD
G: My school laptop. Tis much abused.
H: My old mp3-player that's been converted to a USB storage device.
I: Pencil sharpener
J: Eraser
K: Pencil leads, for my mechanical pencils.
L: An origami crane. From the time we were watching a movie in class... I got bored. I made an entire crane family. Most of it can be seen inside my old pencil case (see figure D)
M: Them post-it bookmarks.
N: My foot! In a boot! xD
O: Highlighters, again a must-have for students.
P: Ruler
Q: Cheap, broken, inkless pens. And yet I have no intention of chucking them out. Why? Cause they were broken on two separate (special) days. Hint: It involves glasses.

And because I'm weird/ wasteful, I bought another set of pens today. In my defense - it's because the majority of the pens over there are "special occasion" pens; calligraphic pens, colored pens, design, etc etc.

Here's a few of the books I have on my desk. I figure the juxtaposition of two specific books is kind of interesting. I'm letting them duke it out, you see. So far my desk hasn't exploded yet. But you never know.

Today I cleaned my room. Finally. Maybe that's why I feel a bit better.

Or maybe it has to do with me listening to Eddie Izzard the whole bloody day.

I have some musings about life that I should post here. But it doesn't really fit in here, so I'll save it for another day.

Besides, my cat is ambushing me at the moment. She's behind me now. And now she's stepping on my shoulders. Holy hell...

Ah well. I should go and write that report now.

Here's to Mr Kennedy. Now I know why the embodiment of goodness and light idolizes you so.

Forgive your enemies, but never, never forget their names.

Love Song

[EDITED 21/01/09: I have imeem now, and it looks so much cooler.]

In lieu of my delayed New Year's post, I give you this.

One of the points in my Resolutions list is that "I will write more". And yet I have not finished the aforementioned post. Even my diary remains untouched. But do not blame me. Blame the things around me that were shiny enough to hold my undivided attention for hours on end. Blame The Thirteenth Tale in particular. What with it being so interesting and beautifully written - it captured me - ensnared me. I have been kept prisoner by its spell... for a couple of hours... So yes. I did not update.

There's a whole laundry list of things to blame, but there's really no point in enumerating said things.

Enjoy.

Love Song - Sara Bareilles

Promise me that you'll leave the light on
To help me see with daylight, my guide, gone
'Cause I believe there's a way you can love me
Because I say
I won't write you a love song
'Cause you asked for it
'Cause you need one, you see
- Love Song, Sara Bareilles

Oh, and Happy New Year.

[PS: I've posted this version and not the original music video for a simple reason. The original video cannot be embedded. Wankers.] [READ SHORT NOTE ABOVE]

Normality and Weirdness

What is "weird"? Is it the opposite of normal?

Well then, what is "normal"? Does normal mean conforming to the society around you? Does normal mean doing whatever everyone else around you does? If so, then normal is dangerous.

Suppose you lived in an ignorant, close-minded society, and you wanted to be "normal"... do you then choose to become ignorant too?

But make no mistakes, it's entirely normal for people to want to be a part of the norm. No one wants to be an outcast. No one wants to be the lonely kid sitting in a corner, watching everyone else go by.

But sometimes you have to make a stand. Sometimes you have to go against the norm. Sometimes you have to be the "weird" kid. Sometimes it's the right thing to do.

Because if we all keep the "normal" mentality... never daring to do something out of the norm, never daring to do something extraordinary... then society will be reduced to a bunch of mindless drones. Zombies, with no brains of their own... wandering around aimlessly, shuffling awkwardly from side to side, following people who are merely following other people too.

"Normal" mentality led to witch hunts, trials and executions. "Normal" mentality led to the banishing of aboriginals from their own homes. "Normal" mentality led to racism. "Normal" mentality led to the destruction of empires... to wars, both civil and major.

"Normal" mentality has led, and is still leading, to the persecution of the "weird" - the different.

So for the sake of normality, let us all be weird.

And yes. I have a test tomorrow. Hence, the insightful blog post.

People fear what they do not understand.

Of Tests, Thoughts and Bedheads

I just drank another packet of iced coffee. I'm waiting for the effects to kick in, then I'll start reading for me history test tomorrow.

In the meantime, I'm watching The Daily Show. Or at least, listening to it.

I had a math test today. Never did I think that I'd ever take another test that would make me want to cry. Screw that subject!! My mother was very gracious about it though. I talked to her about it, and she made me realize that it is a part of the whole human experience to make mistakes. I love my mother.

And this thought entered my mind a few moments ago. I realized that right at this moment, something horrible is happening to someone, somewhere else in the world. Someone could be murdering someone, or being murdered, or waking up in a puddle of blood, or being rushed to the hospital with terrible injuries.

My mind comes up with these things when I am completely tired. I should start painting them sometimes.

And today... oh Elessar... the bedhead. The BEDHEAD!! Me thinks there is no sexier hairstyle a man could have than the bedhead. Oh dear Elessar. Oh Elbereth!

I should go and start reading now.

In the '60s and '70s, people used acid to make the world look different. Now today, people take Prozac to make it look normal.

A Caffeine-Induced Musing

I'm supposed to be studying for a test. But as usual, it's when I have to study that the philosophical thoughts come rushing in.

Well, that, and that I've just drank a whole can of Iced Coffee after going on for a week without caffeine... it's not really a can though, more of a rectangular plastic/paper combination sachet. Whatever.

Anyway...

If humans were immortal, we would not have any of the technological advancements we enjoy today.

That is my claim.

Quite simple really. Because human lifespans don't last for very long, the generations don't last for very long either. Each generation, although used to the current way of living, still want to surpass the previous one. So it becomes a life-goal to develop things that would make life easier/flashier/better.

Ever since the first stone tools were made, technology has only developed faster and faster. This could be because of the mentality a short lifespan has brought on. A kind of "I have a decade or so to develop this thing so I would still be alive to reap the benefits" sort of thing. That's the motivation; to achieve something before one dies. To ensure that ones offsprings would live a better life.

If humans were immortal, on the other hand... what would the motivation be?

Why would one want to study the traditional way, when one has an eternity ahead? What would be the point of developing new things if the old ones still work? I'm probably being too cynical, but think about it. Why would an immortal invent a cannon if he still has a robust sword?

Again, this could be brought upon by my negative view of immortality. I know certain people who would like to be immortal. I don't really get it. It would be hell on earth. I get bored easily, so living forever would be unbearable. Plus you'd live to see all the ones you love die - one by one, before your very eyes. I could not ever bear to witness that. Torture, I tell ye. You'd be afraid to love again after that.

And yes, you'd live to see great things - great human accomplishments and natural events. But you would also live to see great catastrophes, great human tragedies, plagues, famines, wars, the downfall of mighty civilizations. You'd see great beauty wasted by man's incosiderate actions. You'd see wasted lives, useless deaths, the early deaths of great people...

A short life is sweeter, I say.

Immortality - a fate worse than death.

Mobile Uploads

HA! It works! EUREKA!!

Albeit not exactly the way I wanted it to work, but who cares?!! I can now blog from ze road!!

I am procrastinating.

I have an essay to write, and I've sat here for the past hour doing everything but that.

I'm uninspired. My muse is away. She bids me to leave her alone. I hope she comes back before 9 pm, because I really do want to sleep early today.

I always want to sleep early, but I never really do.

I need inspiration and I need it NOW.

Anyways, I'm totally stoked by my new phone... even though it's been "new" for nearly over a month now. I love it! Hail Samsung!

----

Today we watched a documentary about Greece and its leaders. Twas my History And Philosophy class.

I love Alexander the Great. I know I hate war, and war was Alexander's middle name, but still. I can't help but admire the man. He was brilliant. And I love the conspiracy theories revolving around his death - particularly the Hellebore one.

I should go on and research poisons soon. Because I'm fascinated by them.

Ah well...

I should go work on that essay now. Ciao!

Expect more random posts from me in the future! With this newly set account I can take over the blogging world!!! Bwahahahaha!!

I only hope it won't give me sky-high bills. O.O
